I want to upgrade to one of these smartphones- which is the best one for (a) Ease of use (b) Internet (c) Video Camera (d) Battery Life (the biggest bugbear) (e) Overall Quality
The best is Droid Incredible, but no idea when it’ll reach your side of the pond.
It has Android 2.1 w/ Sense UI, 8 megapixel camera, but not-so-good battery life.

Probably at this very moment, the Droid Incredible. or Nexus One. both are very user friendly, good internet, (depending on location and carrier of course) the Droid inches in front of the Nexus with the camera with the Droid at 8 MP and Nexus at 5 MP.
As for battery life, Im sorry to be the bearer of bad news but no smart phones at the moment have a terrific battery life, now you can improve it by doing several things, such as lowering screen brightness, turning off wifi, bluetooth, GPS, syncing and such, that will greatly improve the battery life but if you want a smart phone that lets you do whatever you want and only charge it once a week im afraid your going to have to wait quite a while for that. so driod or nexus same battery life pretty much.
As for overall quality they are both very good phones, they have the same operating system and both running 2.1 android so its really up to you.

The droid by incredible is the best android by far out right now as long as you dont want a physical keyboard. It is only available through Verizon though which is a downside. There is the droid also known as the milestone which has a physical keyboad and is the second best android phone out right now. The battery life isnt that great on any android phones they are media devices and consume a lot of battery.
