Ok, I am starting uni next year, and I need to get a job because I am moving into my apartment. I was thinking of getting a regular job (maybe), but I know that I am really good at graphic design and was thinking of starting like a small graphic design business. The problem is that I don’t have enough money to properly call it a business or to get a proper website. I was thinking instead of making it a bit more informal (ie. maybe cash payment etc.) and I would create a really great Youtube vid which would advertise my ‘business’ (and say what and why I am doing it the way I am, as well as what I do).

So, my question is: If I make a youtube video titled something like ‘Graphic Design/Designer in [Enter City Name Here]‘ … would it show up in google if people searched for ‘graphic designer [City Name]‘? Would it be a viable option as marketing? What do you think??

Thank you :)

Putting videos up can often be easier to optimize than regular website. There is a chance to get it ranked well, but it will probably not happen instantly and may not at all if you do not do certain things. Google looks at a number of things to decide whether to put a video in the search results or not. Some of which include:

Linking video from other socia/video sites.
Link video from different social networks and profiles like Facebook, Mysepsace, hi5, friendster, twitter, etc.
authority and constant activity.

Other things to consider include:

1) Title
2) Description
3) Play page URL
4) Thumbnail image URL
